'asking' was considered appropriate in more unenlightened times. the modern man doesn't require permission, or even interest from today's woman. the 'wait' has become antiquated to some degree also. suffice to say, 'sniff' and 'pet' are more than enough for any gentleman to remember. and 'fuck', i almost forgot 'fuck'.
